A New Variety of Kalanchoe blossfeldiana ‘Pink Blanc’

Abstract

A new variety of Kalanchoe blossfeldiana ‘Pink Blanc’ was developed at Cactus and Succulent Research Institute, Gyeonggi-do A.R.E.S. in 2023. ‘Pink Blanc’ was crossed between K. blossfeldiana ‘Tombo’ and ‘Rudak’, 128 seedlings were gained in 2018. GK18122-14 was selected in 2019 and it had tested for characteristics as new variety from 2021 to 2023. It was finally selected and named as ‘Pink Blanc’ applying for the protection of new variety. This variety has large single type flowers with vivid pink (N57C) color. The plant height and width at flowering period reached 18.4 and 18.9 cm, respectively. ‘Pink Blanc’ produces 38.9 flowers per peduncle and 13.4 branches per plant. The diameter of flower is 2.0 cm. To flowering stage of ‘Pink Blanc’, it was taken 59.7 days after the short day treatment in January. Morphological characteristics can be maintained through vegetative propagation.
