A Standard Rose Cultivar ‘Venturoso’ with Purple Petals for Cut Flowers
Abstract
A standard rose cultivar, ‘Venturoso’ was selected for cut flower from the progenies of a cross between ‘Feel Lip’ as a mother plant and ‘Wonwoo86’ as a pollen plant by rose breeding team of the Gyeonggi-Do Agricultural Research and Extension Services (GARES) in 2021. ‘Feel Lip’ and ‘Wonwoo86’ was crossed in 2014 and seedlings were produced. After the test of specific characters from 2016 to 2021, ‘Venturoso’ was finally selected and named. ‘Venturoso’ has a standard type in flower shape, and purple colored (RHS Red-Purple Group 67A) petals. It has 6.6 cm in flower diameter, 4.3cm in flower length, 39.0 petals per flower. Its vase life was 13.2 days and, it takes 44 days from pruning to blooming and cut flowers productivity was 202.1 stems/m2 in a year. The length of cut flower was 66.1 cm and fresh weight of cut flower was 50.0g. We applied plant breeder’s right with the proposed breeder’s denomination ‘Venturoso’ on Korea Seed & Variety Service (KSVS) with reference number 9909 on January 19, 2024.
